H.P. Manchegowda, District Health Officer, requested the people to cooperate with the district administration in making Mandya district polio-free. Mr. Manchegowda issued a press release through the Department of Information and Public Relations here on Saturday appealing to parents to administer polio drops to their children.

A total of 1,72,751 children in the district will be administered anti-polio drops during the first phase of the drive. Over 2,892 staff and 144 supervisors will take part in the three-day programme starting from Sunday, the DHO said.

The district has been free from polio for several years, with no case being reported since then. The district administration would set up 723 booths across the district to immunise children against polio, he said.
