SSLC results: DDPI office handicapped as court seize its computers

The declaration of results of the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examination is likely to be affected here, as the office of the local Deputy Director of Public Instruction is not well equipped. The staff in the computer section in the DDPI office may find it difficult to download the results, as seven of the 12 computers in the office were seized by a local court last week, as the office allegedly failed to settle payment of salary and emoluments of a teacher.

The computers were taken away from the examination section, Superintendent’s chamber and cabin of the DDPI’s personal assistant, a senior official told The Hindu.

He said a teacher from Sampagaon of Bailhongal taluk had filed a case against the Education Department in a local court claiming that about Rs.18 lakh as salary-emoluments was due for 12 years. The DDPI was one of the respondents. Since the DDPI failed to make the payment, the court ordered seizure of the office property. The court also wanted to seize the official car of the DDPI but gave up as the vehicle was due for repairs.

The DDPI’s office requested the court to grant some more time in view of the SSLC results, stating that all the necessary data regarding examination was stored in the computers installed at examination section. However, the court declined to oblige and threatened to arrest the officials as well.

“Now, we are handicapped on such an important day,” the official said.

Sources said the DDPI staff hope to ensure that the result declaration is not affected by utilising the computers that have been left behind. The SSLC results would be received from the KSEEB in Bengaluru through email.
