The Principal District and Sessions Judge, D. Vishweshwar Bhat, on Friday granted anticipatory bail to B. Sriramulu, former Minister, Shivappa, former Deputy Commissioner, Bellary, and four officials, facing charges of allegedly manipulating records and forcibly acquiring land (residential sites).

Granting interim bail till June 30 to the bail applicants, Mr. Bhat asked the Special Public Prosecutor for Lokayukta to file his objections on June 25.

Complainant Krishnamurthy, who, among others, is said to have lost his residential site, has accused Mr. Sriramulu and the officials of manipulating the records to forcibly acquire land belonging to him and others, which they had purchased in 1992.

According to him, Mr. Sriramulu purchased 27.25 acres of land in Survey No 597/B on Bellary-Belagal Road and allegedly occupied the residential sites held by him (Mr. Krishnamurthy) and others at a different place with the help of fabricated documents.

Earlier admitting the case, Mr. Bhat ordered a probe by the Lokayukta police directing it to submit a report on August 26, 2013.
