Special flight to connect Mysuru and Bengaluru for Dasara

Published - October 06, 2018 12:10 am IST - Mysuru

A special aircraft will carry tourists to Mysuru from Bengaluru from October 10 to 19 in view of Dasara.

The Department of Tourism and Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) are launching the initiative to enable tourists from India and abroad to travel comfortably to the City of Palaces.

A memorandum of understanding was signed between the KSTDC and Alliance Air, a subsidiary of Air India, to operate the flight to and from Mysuru. The flight will leave Bengaluru every day except Tuesday at 2.10 p.m. and reach Mysuru at 3 p.m. The return flight will take off at 3.30 p.m. from Mysuru and reach Bengaluru at 4.20 p.m. According to tourism authorities, the fare will start at ₹999.

During the previous two years, the Tourism Department operated the seven-seater Cessna aircraft, branded as Akash Ambari, which used to operate from the HAL airport in Bengaluru to Mysuru. The 72-seater Alliance Air will be more useful to tourists as it operates from the regular KIAL airport in Bengaluru and will also work as a connecting flight for all tourists landing in Bengaluru, sources in the KSTDC said.

Besides, it will likely help the people of Bengaluru as they can avoid the Bengaluru-Mysuru National Highway, which sees heavy traffic during the festivities.

Tourism Minister S.R. Mahesh said there was a need to promote the culture and traditions of the State to tourists from all over the world. “I hope a lot of people take advantage of the special flight initiative. We will consider continuing the service if we get good response from tourists,” he added.
