Following up their November 12 strike, bank unions have said they will go ahead with the four-day serial zonal strike starting with the south zone on December 2.

They are demanding 23 per cent wage hike immediately as part of a revision due from November 1, 2012.

“The zonal strike for one day will be observed by all bank workmen and officers in the southern, northern, eastern and western zones respectively on December 2, 3, 4 and 5,” said a release issued by the All-India Bank Officers’ Confederation.

AIBOC said the next week’s strike had become “absolutely inevitable” as the managements body, the Indian Banks’ Association, had not budged from its offer of 11 per cent wage increase.
