Breaking his silence for the first time since the suspension of the Hyderabad Special CBI court judge T. Pattabhirama Rao in the cash-for-bail scam, Bellary MLA G. Somashekara Reddy has denied any connection to the episode.
Mr. Ramarao was suspended by the Andhra Pradesh High Court after the CBI found him accepting a bribe to grant bail to mining baron and former Minister G. Janardhan Reddy.
In a press release issued on Sunday, Mr. Janardhan Reddy's younger brother Somashekara Reddy termed the action of the CBI “politically motivated” and said that sections of the press too had acted in a partisan manner. “The politically motivated press and the CBI have conspired to subvert the administration of justice”

He said, “We vehemently deny any connection with the event of the CBI Judge being suspended for corruption charges and have nothing to do with it,” he said. Alleging that the CBI and the media have been trying to harm his brother, he said that Mr. Janardhan Reddy had every right to be released on bail after spending nine months in prison.
“An unrelated event of the CBI judge being raided and questioned by the CBI is being unnecessarily linked with our case only to prejudice the minds of Judges of the High Court, specially since this matter is coming up on June 5, 2012 in the Andhra Pradesh High Court,” he said.
He also alleged that the CBI was attempting to isolate him so as to limit his ability to seek legal remedy for his brother. Stating that he had “full faith in the judiciary”, he said that the CBI was resorting to “tricks” to keep Mr. Janardhan Reddy in jail in violation of his constitutional rights.
