Social and education survey from April 9

As the mammoth exercise – the Social and Educational Survey - is all set to begin from April 9 to 30, families and individuals have been asked to provide “proper and truthful” information to the enumerators. This will help in getting realistic information on the social, educational and economic conditions of people and their numerical strength in the State, said Deputy Commissioner N. Jayaram here on Thursday.

He said preparations to take the survey were in place in Belagavi district, the second largest after Bengaluru in Karnataka.

As many as 10 lakh families in 8,232 blocks in 10 taluks would be covered in the survey. A total of 8,625 teachers from primary and high schools had been drafted to work as enumerators, who would undertake door-to-door visits to accomplish the massive task.

That apart, 1,414 observers had been appointed in the district, 91 master trainers had trained the enumerators on how to record the information provided by the families in the prescribed form. Eleven data entry centres had been set up to upload the data collected from the enumerators on daily basis.

Legal proceedings will be initiated in case wrong information is provided by people, Mr. Jayaram said. people are also required to show either Aadhaar card, voter identity card or ration card to the enumerators.
