Sindhia to rejoin JD(S) today

He had held various portfolios in different governments of the Janata Parivar

The former Minister P.G.R. Sindhia with JD(S) supremo H.D. Deve Gowda and party State president H.D. Kumaraswamy in Bengaluru on Sunday.

In what is being perceived as the regrouping of former Janata Parivar leaders, the former Minister P.G.R Sindhia on Sunday met the Janata Dal (Secular) top leadership to discuss modalities to rejoin the party.

He is set to join the party on Monday.

Incidentally, another former Janata Parivar leader and current Congress MLC C.M. Ibrahim had also met party State president H.D. Kumaraswamy on Saturday.

Mr. Sindhia also met Mr. Kumaraswamy in the presence of the former Prime Minister and JD(S) supremo H.D. Deve Gowda following which Mr. Gowda invited Mr. Sindhia to a function organised at the JD(S) office on Monday.

‘Active role’

Sources said that Mr. Sindhia has been asked to take an active role in preparing the party for the upcoming polls to Assembly. Mr. Sindhia, who was one of the architects of Janata Parivar, had held various portfolios in different governments of the Janata Parivar.

While he has largely remained neutral with his political affiliation, Mr. Sindhia, however, campaigned for the Congress candidates in the by polls to three Legislative Assembly constituencies and to the local bodies.

He had justified his role with the Congress then to strengthen Siddaramaiah government. Sources said that he had planned to join Congress, as he felt that he was being sidelined by JD(S) leaders.

Mr. Sindhia was also a national vice-president of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in 2007.
