Bhagat Singh Youth Brigade and other Sikh organisations took out a peace march in Bidar on Monday against the alleged desecration of the Sikh holy book Guru Granth Sahib in Faridkot, Punjab.

They walked from Gurudwara Guru Nanak Jhira to the Ambedkar Circle and submitted a memorandum to the President of India through the Deputy Commissioner’s office.

“Such cowardly acts are done by vested interests or intruders who want to upset the communal harmony of India. We had hoped that the Punjab government and the Union government would take immediate legal action against the offenders. But we are sad to see that both don’t seem interested in that. Hence the protest,” they said.

Jaspreet Singh Saini, president of the brigade; Balbir Singh, Guru Nanak Dev Foundation president; Narendra Singh, community leader; and others were present.
