Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu may be wooing Bengaluru’s IT industry, but Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is going all the way to the United States of America to draw investments to the State, said S.R. Patil, Minister for IT, Biotechnology, and Science and Technology.
The Minister, who is also to accompany the Chief Minister, told presspersons here on Wednesday that the proposal was in the initial stage and its logistics were being worked out.
Mr. Patil said the government was seriously trying to get IT companies to invest in tier-II cities, by offering them tax concessions and leasing land for 30 years for free, with the rider that they create 1,000 jobs for every acre leased.

“I’m confident that investments will flow, though IT companies are yet to get over their fascination for Bengaluru,” he said.
He said the tendering process for creating 100 Wi-Fi hotspots in Bengaluru and two each in every district centre had begun. “The process will be completed within 40 to 45 days and nine companies have shown expression of interest in the project,” Mr. Patil said.
