“Time has come for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to resign. Evidence against him showing his involvement in Arkavathi denotification is strong,” K.S. Eshwarappa, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, told presspersons here on Saturday.

He was here to inaugurate the BJP membership drive and a party conference. “Everywhere he goes, Mr. Siddaramaiah keeps repeating that he is the Chief Minister and he will complete his five-year term. As if he is not sure of it himself,” Mr. Eswharappa said.

“It is not just Mr. Siddaramaiah who should resign. Ministers like Dinesh Gundu Rao, Qamarul Islam, and H.C. Mahadevappa too should quit as they are facing serious allegations,” he said.

Mr. Eshwarappa said that the government was not doing anything of significance. It had no money to take up development works. Even Speaker Kagodu Thimmappa was criticising the Ministers. “Their inefficiency is so obvious that there is no need for criticism from outsiders,” he said.

Later, at a meeting of party workers, Mr. Eshwarappa said that Mr. Siddharamaiah would be the last Congress Chief Minister to rule this State. “There is no doubt about it,” he told the crowd amid applause. “The BJP is building a strong cadre base. It will achieve its Congress free India in a few years,” Mr. Eshwarappa added.
