Complaint filed with Cyber Crime Cell

Squadm Technologies Private Ltd., the company that maintains Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar’s website, filed a complaint with the Cyber Crime Cell in Bangalore on Wednesday saying his site was hacked on September 14.

The hackers reportedly posted pro-Pakistani statements on www.jagadishshettar.com.

Praveen Kumar M., managing director, Squadm Technologies, said the site was hacked using a Pakistani IP address.

“The home page was redirected and some messages were posted in Urdu. I could only read the words ‘free Kashmir’ and ‘the voice of black hat hackers’ which were in English. The hackers, however, could not tamper with the content,” he said.

Mr. Kumar said the hacking was traced within 15 minutes and rectified.

The website was launched three years ago when Mr. Shettar was Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj.
