Alleging that the Forest officials had relocated the alleged man-eater tiger from Chikkamagaluru to Khanapur in Belagavi district bowing to pressure from politicians and wildlife experts, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Jagadish Shettar on Friday demanded an investigation by the Criminal Investigation Department into the entire issue of relocating the tiger.
Expressing concern over the tiger in question reportedly killing a 23-year-old woman in Mundagai village of Khanapur taluk, Mr. Shettar alleged that the negligence of Forest officials in shifting the troublesome tiger was the root cause of the problem.
Pointing out that the radio-collar which had been fitted to the tiger had stopped working, he demanded that the probe should also throw light on whether the experts had failed to properly fit the radio-collar.
