Seven held on charge of stealing pepper worth Rs. 9.4 lakh

The Sakleshpur police on Wednesday arrested seven persons in connection with a dacoity reported at Gulagalale village in Sakleshpur taluk on June 21. The arrested had made away with 27 bags of pepper worth Rs. 9.4 lakh from a farmhouse belonged to a planter, Jayachandra, after assaulting two watchmen.

The police identified the arrested as Sudhir of Masuvalli, Mubarak of Ballupet, Abdul Ajeej and Prashanth of Gulagalale, Abdul Karim, Deepak and Avinash of Sakleshpur.

They seized two steel rods, a vehicle and 1,350 kg of pepper from the arrested.
