Kagodu Thimmappa reviews drought relief measures in Koppal

Minister for Revenue Kagodu Thimmappa has directed officials to submit proposals to the government for declaring Tandas, camps and other human habitations as revenue villages.

Presiding over a meeting to review the drought relief measures undertaken and steps to regularise unauthorised constructions on government land here on Sunday, Mr. Thimmappa asked the officials to convene a meeting at the taluk level to identify such habitations and send the proposals through the Deputy Commissioner.

He also underlined that the zilla panchayat president and the chief executive officer to initiate appropriate measures in the matter.

Deputy Commissioner M. Kanagavalli said that a proposal has been sent to convert around 32 habitations, including Tandas and camps into revenue villages.

She added that if fresh proposals come, she would once again send a comprehensive proposal to the government.

Mr. Thimmappa wanted the officials to chalk out a time-table to verify applications at the gram panchayat level for regularisation of unauthorised constructions on government land.

According to him, people were under a wrong notion that they were paying land revenue and that the government land on which they have unauthorisedly constructed houses belonged to them.

But they should get it regularised and obtain patta by filing an application under 94C in rural areas and under 94CC in urban areas under Karnataka Land Revenue Act. Despite being told, some have not filed applications yet.

“Ensure that the process of verifying applications given and regularisation is completed within the next six months,” he said.

Ms. Kanagavalli said that of the 14,763 applications received under 94C, 204 had been regularised and 8,037 applications were rejected.

The Minister, while reviewing the drought relief works undertaken, directed the officials to accord priority to providing drinking water and fodder.

“There is no dearth of funds. Ensure that water and fodder are available till June. Encourage farmers, with irrigation facilities, to grow fodder by giving them the required inputs,” he said.

The meeting was told that water was being supplied through tankers in 19 villages, seven goshalas and six fodder banks were opened.

Shekarappa Nagaralli, Zilla Panchayat President, Doddanagouda Patil, MLA, and Venkata Raja, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer, were present.
