Seminar on Allama Iqbal in Belagavi

The one-day All India seminar on “Shayar-e-Mashriq: Allama Iqbal ‘Fikr-O-Paigam” held at Kannada Sahitya Bhavan in Belagavi on Sunday brought alive the spirit, values and scholarly pursuits of the early 20th Century Urdu and Persian poet, Allama Muhammad Iqbal.

The seminar was organised as part of the series of nation-wide seminars and conferences across the country. In Belagavi, the seminar was organised by Hazrat Sayyed Abdul Basheban Academy, Belagavi.

Speakers arriving from different parts of the State paid homage to the poet and advised today’s youth and society to not only celebrate the national heroes but also to imbibe the values, messages and thoughts.

Professor Abdul Hameed Akbar from Kalaburgi highlighted the messages inherent in Iqbal’s poetry such as the ‘conception of Allah’ and ‘meaning of prayer’.

Other prominent speakers included, Abdul Samad Khanapuri of Karnataka Urdu Academy, Belagavi, Dr. Shahnawaz Alam, Research Assistant at Central Institute of Indian Languages, Mysuru, Dr. G.M. Sheikh, Mysuru, Prof. C.S. Shakeel Ahmed, Head, Dept. of Urdu, Kuvempu University, Shivamogga, Dr. Manzoor Ahmed Deccani from Gulbarga University, Kalaburgi and Moulana Noor Pasha of Belagavi.
