How would it be to own a bike that does not start if the rider does not have a helmet? Wouldn’t it be great if it were to send a SMS to the police if the bike meets with an accident?

A concept kit that can be fitted to any bike has been developed by students of Gogte Institute of Technology. It was among the 200 exhibits displayed at the science exhibition on campus recently.

Among the projects were a garbage can that sends an SMS to the municipal authorities when it is full, a mind reader that can guess with 90% accuracy the letters that one is thinking about, and a computer-aided, solar-operated, sowing, ploughing and harvesting machine that saves the farmer’s time. Dilip Kumar Gonji, Amit Kono, Farid Kazi, Akash Nayak developed the farm equipment.

The waste management system is the brainchild of Vishal Kamat, Vinayak Basgod, Vedant Boob and Shubham Teware.

There were other projects in the fields of irrigation, solar energy, smart detection, nano -technology, and global positioning system. The event was inaugurated by District Industrial Centre Joint Director T. Siddanna.
