Six-year-old students had petitioned against CMR National Public School’s action

The High Court of Karnataka on Monday ordered issue of notice to the State government on a petition filed by six-year-old students questioning the action of CMR National Public School, Kalyan Nagar, refusing to admit them to class 1 under the RTE Act. Justice Anand Byrareddy passed the order on the petition filed by Akash and others, represented by their parents. The petitioners complained that the school authorities had failed to give an endorsement stating reason for their inability to admit them to the school though their names were in the list of students to be admitted under RTE as per the notification issued by the jurisdictional block education officer.ing out that the school admitted children under the RTE Act during the previous academic year, the petitioners stated that they would be losing a year of schooling if the school failed to admit them this academic year.
