Rs. 341 crore with deputy commissioners for supplying drinking water

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday announced in the Legislative Assembly that Rs. 341 crore had been released into the personal deposit accounts of deputy commissioners (DCs) for supplying drinking water in their districts.

Replying to the debate on thanking Governor H.R. Bhardwaj for his address to the members of the State legislature, Mr. Siddaramaiah said each zilla panchayat division had been given Rs.1 crore for the purpose. New bore wells could be drilled if needed. The area MLA would be the chairman of the task force for implementation.

Mr. Siddaramaiah said all the 31,000 Ganga Kalyan bore wells drilled by the Dalits, the Other Backward Classes and minorities would be provided with power during the year. He said waiving of loans of Dalits taken from primary land development banks would be considered when he presents the budget.
