Rock python run over near Malavalli

A 15-ft-long Indian rock python was killed when it was run over on Malavalli-Shivanasamudra Road, near Rottikatte, in Malavalli, in Mandya district on Sunday.

A 15-foot-long Indian rock python was run over by an unknown vehicle, when slithering across the Malavalli-Shivanasamudra road, near Rottikatte in Malavalli. The incident took place at 3 p.m. on Sunday.

Locals say that the reptile came under the wheels of what was likely a light motor vehicle and was badly injured. The people alerted the forest department. However, the snake died before the officials could reach the spot. “We will request the Malavalli subdivision police to trace the vehicle which killed the python,” a department official said.
