About 46 per cent of the RTCs (Record of Rights, Tenancy and Crops) in the State are faulty in spite of the State having introduced Bhoomi project for online management and delivery of these records 14 years ago.
Admitting this in the Legislative Assembly on Thursday during his reply to the debate on the Revenue Department’s demand for grants, Revenue Minister V. Srinivas Prasad said that 75 lakh of the total 1.63 crore RTCs in the State were faulty.
He said steps would be taken to rectify the mistakes in all the RTCs by this year-end through hobli-level revenue adalats, where revenue officials would be present to interact with landowners and rectify the mistakes on the spot. The Minister said the concept of revenue adalat had been introduced as it had become difficult for landowners to rectify the mistakes in the RTCs due to the long waiting period. Revenue adalat had been conducted on a pilot basis in Kolar taluk. The feedback was good as nearly 75 per cent of the mistakes in the RTCs were corrected on the spot, he said.

Such adalats would now be held in all the districts.
The department was planning to recruit 237 tahsildars to tackle manpower shortage and usher in efficiency. A proposal in this regard would be forwarded to the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms.

Mr. Prasad said he would give priority to tackling manpower shortage to help reform the department.
Measures would also be initiated to fill 619 posts of First Division Assistant in the department, he said.
