Kagodu Thimmappa, Revenue Minister, has said that action will be taken to regularise unauthorised houses constructed on government land. Deputy Commissioners of all districts have been asked to urge their subordinates to speed up the work of visiting villages to collect applications from such occupants in an expedited manner for further action.
He was addressing a press conference after attending a meeting of officials from the Revenue and other departments in Yadgir on Saturday. He said that government will dispose of applications under Section 94 of Karnataka Land Revenue Act, 1964, to protect occupants from legal crises as the law will punish occupants for not holding records of rights to such houses.
As many as 4,800 applications seeking the right of records were received in Yadgir district so far. Officials have been instructed to visit every village to create awareness among those who have constructed houses on government land and not submitted applications for regularisation, and take further action immediately.

The Minister said that ‘tandas’ will be converted into Revenue villages. Houses and cattle sheds being built would get title records of the properties under the Dudiyuvavane Neladodeya scheme.
He also said that Deputy Commissioners have been directed to sanction graveyards to those who do not have them. If there was no government land, the district administration should purchase land from private owners and allot them properly, he said.
The Union government has released ₹450 crore against the assured ₹1,700 crore compensation for crop loss during the kharif season. However, the State government added an additional ₹211 crore to the released amount and distributed ₹611 crore. An all-party delegation will meet with the Centre to obtain the remaining amount, he said.

The State government will take all necessary steps to develop newly announced taluks. As many as 49 new taluks were announced by adding six new taluks to the report submitted by the late M.P.Prakash, former Revenue Minister. He replied to a question that the government would look into the demands on additional taluks.
Bagair hukum land
As many 4.50 lakh applications seeking Saguvali Cheetis (cultivation letters) on bagair hukum land have been received. Of these, 1.50 lakh have been disposed so far, he said. To a question asked about the clearance of the remaining applications, the Minister said that the MLAs did not seem to be showing an interest in clearing the applications expeditiously.
