Deputy Director of Pre University Education in Mysuru, K.M. Puttu, received a call from the office of the PU Board director around 6 a.m. on Thursday, asking him to cancel the re-examination scheduled for March 31.

He told The Hindu that he instructed the treasuries in all seven taluks of Mysuru district not to release the question papers. Though the word had got around that the exam had been cancelled, many anxious students went to their examination centres for confirmation.

More than 9,000 students from Mysuru district had appeared for the chemistry exam that was held on March 21, that was cancelled following a paper leak. The re-examination will be held on April 12.
