Additional Director-General of Police (ADGP) P. Ravindranath, who was asked to report to Criminal Investigation Department (CID) sleuths to record his statements on Sunday, did not turn up.
“We had asked him to meet us at 2.30 p.m. on Sunday, but he did not come. We assume that he had a prior engagement around the same time,” a CID official said, and added that they were hoping to record his statements on Monday.
On the State government’s direction, the CID is investigating the charge that Dr. Ravindranath took photographs of a woman at a coffee shop here last May 26, which the senior IPS officer has denied.

The CID is also looking into Dr. Ravindranath’s charge of caste discrimination against Police Commissioner Raghavendra Auradkar. He has filed a case against Mr. Auradkar and two other police officials under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.
“We have already recorded the statement of victim in connection with the coffee shop case and panchanama has been completed. We were hoping to register Dr. Ravindranath’s statement in the SC/ST Act case. Only after we register the statements of the complainant that the investigation can move,” the official said.
Asked if the Police Commissioner was questioned on Sunday in connection with the two cases, the official said Mr. Auradkar is yet to be called in.

“I cannot speculate on when the Police Commissioner will be called. Whatever is required as part of the investigation will be done,” the official said.
