The father of a 13-year-old rape victim, who had earlier complained to the police that he was under pressure to marry his daughter off to the person who allegedly raped her, was on Sunday assaulted and stabbed by unidentified men in Ramachandranagar in Srirampuram police station limits.
The 54-year-old victim was rushed to Victoria Hospital where doctors said that his condition was stable. “He has suffered injuries on the back and head. He will be referred to a neurologist,” a doctor said.
The assault on the man comes weeks after he lodged a complaint with the Srirampuram police that the family was living in fear as people were banging on their doors and threatening to kill the baby born to their daughter.

Sources said that one of the brothers of the rape victim was also receiving threats on his mobile phone.
According to the sources, two constables had been deployed to provide protection to the family. And, Sunday evening’s attack took place, though one of the constables was on duty, according to the mother of the rape victim.
Srirampuram police said that a complaint had been registered in this connection.

The case drew attention after the teen gave birth to her baby in an autorickshaw in April as hospitals refused to admit her.
The teenager was raped allegedly by her father’s colleague, Syed Shakeel, a resident of Hoskote.
The parents of the girl had approached the High Court of Karnataka after the Government Urdu School authorities, where she was studying, allegedly forced her to leave following pressure from parents of other students.
But the High Court had, in July, directed the Urdu school in Bangalore to permit the girl to continue her studies.
In a complaint to the police during August, the rape victim’s father said that he was under pressure to withdraw the case and marry off their minor child to the alleged rapist. He claimed that he had been alienated from the community.
