‘Raitha Dasara’ to be held in all seven taluks

The three-day ‘Raitha Dasara’ will be held in all seven taluks of the district as part of Dasara festivities.

Sports events for farmers, interaction programme and an exhibition will be held during the event. Modern agriculture implements, machines, posters canvassing different schemes of the government, horticulture and related activities, will be on display at the exhibition.

Giving information about the event, G.T. Deve Gowda, MLA, who is in-charge of the Raitha Dasara Sub-Committee, and T. Venkatesh, Additional Deputy Commissioner and special officer of the sub-committee, said that Minister of State for Agriculture Krishna Byregowda will inaugurate the event at the Agriculture Training Institute premises in Naganahalli on October 13.

Efforts are on to bring Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who will be in the city on the day, to the function, they said.

Rangayana will stage a street play on the theme ‘Rangayanada Nadige-Raithara Kadege’ after the formal inauguration.

Different sports will be held for farmers on Oct 14 and an interaction programme with farmers and agriculture scientists will be held on October 15.

Events such as slush field race, short put, lemon and spoon races have been proposed.

Similar programmes will be held in all taluk headquarters and MLAs of respective taluks will inaugurate them.

‘Raitha Dasara’ will be held on October 13 to 15 in T. Narasipura taluk while it will be held from October 14 to 16 at Nanjangud taluk, Hunsuru taluk, H.D. Kote Taluk.

It will be held on October 15 and 16 in Piriyapatna taluk and on October 14 and 15 at K.R. Nagar taluk.
