“Raitha Dasara” an event which has been a regular feature along with the Dasara festivities over the past few years will be held here between September 27 and September 29.
The event which aims to involve farmers in the festivities will include different games that interest farmers, both men and women. The event will be conducted for three days this year.
Apart from the competitions, an interactive session will also be organised with progressive farmers and agriculture scientists. These avenues will be a platform for farmers to get information and clarify their doubts pertaining to agriculture, horticulture, sericulture, fisheries and veterinary.

Selected progressive farmers would narrate their success stories and later farmers could interact with them and get to know about new innovation in their fields. Agriculture scientists would create awareness among farmers about latest developments in agriculture and scientific methods of cultivation.
Competitions that will be conducted include slush race (Kesaru Gadde Ota), 75 metre sprint carrying a 50 kg bag of fertiliser would be held for men. For women farmers, games like tug of war, sprint carrying pot of water on their head, ragi grinding contests, lemon spoon race will be held.
Apart from this State level cow milking competitions would be held on September 28th at the JK grounds and over 300 farmers from different places are expected to take part in the competitions. The competitions would be held in two sessions – 6.30 a.m. in the morning and 5.30 p.m. in the evening and farmers step up and do their best to out-milk each other at the competitions.
