Raichur clash: MLC's son protecting attackers, alleges Cong. functionary

Narasimhalu Madagiri, Deputy Secretary of the District Congress Committee, today alleged that Ravi Boseraju, son of MLC and Congress general secretary N.S. Boseraju, was protecting Murali Yadav and his associates who had attacked three dalit youths on Friday.

At a media conference at the Reporters' Guild here on Wednesday, Mr. Madagiri said "Some dalit leaders, including Ambanna Aroli, had falsely alleged that the entire Congress party was protecting Murali Yadav and his associates who had attacked the dalit youth from Harijanwada. The fact is that only one Congress leader and not the entire party is protecting the accused. Congress general secretary and MLC N.S. Boseraju's son Ravi Boseraju, who had close ties with the attackers, is doing so by using his influence in the corridors of power."

He also demanded that the police nab the remaining accused who were absconding after the attack that triggered group clashes and rioting.

Mr. Madagiri criticised the dalit leaders who attempted to "malign the image of Congress" by falsely holding the party responsible for the incident. "Ambanna Aroli and other dalit leaders have no right to blame the Congress. They are unaware of what happened on the ground. Nor did they have any knowledge of political dynamics in play in Harijanwada locality. They held a press conference and levelled baseless allegations against the party," he said.

Congress leaders R. Ramaswamy, J. Anjankumar, J. Narasimhalu, P. Nallareddy, Muniswamy, Ravikumar and others were present.
