Pulse polio immunisation drive to be launched on January 18

Officials have been directed to work effectively for the success of the drive

A total of 547 booths will be established in Ramanagaram district for the first phase of pulse polio immunisation drive to be launched on January 18.

K.S. Manjunath, Chief Executive Officer of Ramanagaram Zilla Panchayat, held a preparatory meeting recently and instructed the officials to work effectively and make the programme a grand success, a communiqué from the Department of Information and Public Relations said.

In all, 1,19,669 children will be covered under the drive in Ramanagaram. The district administration will also set up 24 transit booths and three mobile teams. V. Priyadarshini, Mandya tahsildar, also held a meeting here on Friday to discuss the arrangements to be made for the drive. The Mandya taluk administration will establish 190 booths in the taluk, including 63 in Mandya, for administering polio drops to children below five years of age. G. Shashidhar Basavaraju, Taluk Health Officer, and others were present.

In Mandya district, 1,72,751 children will be covered under the programme this year. The Mandya district administration has decided to set up 723 booths for the purpose. The officials of Health and Family Welfare Department in both the districts said that adequate arrangements would be made to reach the children in remote areas. Officials of the district administration in Ramanagaram and Mandya would also conduct a three-day door-to-door campaign from January 19.
