The Mysore 2.0 conference on Saturday aims to project the city as a major IT destination and provide a much-needed thrust to the sector.
The conference is being organised by the National Association of Software and Services Company (NASSCOM) and is expected to draw over 250 key players in the field of Information Technology.
In view of the focus on Mysore, NASSCOM has roped in N.R. Narayana Murthy, Chairman Emeritus, Infosys, to deliver the keynote address.

NASSCOM said that Mysore had carved a niche for itself as the preferred destination for companies focussing on development of IT products, R&D, e-commerce and training. The conference had been specifically organised with the aim of further harnessing the potential of the city.
Discussions
The conference will bring together experts from various organisations, government officials and policymakers to discuss diverse issues covering BPOs, SEZs, IT parks, infrastructure development, start-up companies, incubation centres and so on. Key participants include officials from Intel, Excel Soft, Fidelity India, Symantec Corporation and Zinnov Management Consulting Pvt. Ltd.

“While Pune and Thiruvananthapuram have registered growth in the IT sector, Mysore is yet to pick up steam though it is close to Bangalore and there is good connectivity. The conference is an effort to give Mysore the stimulus to reach its potential,” said a NASSCOM representative.

NASSCOM will also highlight some of the major advantages that the city offers such as low cost of operations, good social and environmental ambience, availability of talent pool, presence of good engineering colleges, including NIE and SJCE, educational facilities, good connectivity to Bangalore and other cities and good medicare facilities.
