The Pandavapura police have commenced a probe into the death of sugarcane farmer R. Ninge Gowda (65) of Ganada Hosuru village in the district.
The farmer with physical disability was found dead with burns at his farmland on Thursday.
Mr. Ninge Gowda had failed to repay private loans and that might have prompted him to end his life. It is possible that he fell on the flames while trying to burn dried leaves, according to police officials.
