Popular playback singers to enthral crowd during Hoysalotsav

The four-day event is scheduled to begin on January 8

Popular playback singers including Shaan, Rajesh Krishnan, Vijay Prakash and Raghu Dixit will be enthralling the people during the four-day Hoysalotsava, scheduled to begin on January 8. In addition, dance troupes from Punjab and Gujarat will be performing during the event.

The inaugural function will be held at Belur, one of the most popular tourist spots in the State for the world famous and historic Channakeshava temple belonging to the Hoysala regime. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is expected to take part in the inaugural function, which will be followed by a music programme to be presented by Rajesh Krishnan and his troupe. From the second day onwards, the cultural programmes will be shifted to district stadium in Hassan. Raghu Dixit and his team will perform on the second day, followed by Shaan’s programme on the third day and Vijaya Prakash and troupe on the last day.

“The cultural programmes have been finalised. Besides music programmes, dance shows by troupes from Punjab and Gujarat will be special attractions of the event,” said V. Anbukkumar, Deputy Commissioner. Hassan Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Upendra Pratap Singh, who is a native of Uttar Pradesh, has taken the initiative to invite Bhangra and Garba troupes from north India.

Job fair

A job fair has been included in the list of programmes of Hoysalotsava. Nearly 70 companies have expressed willingness to participate in the job fair. Officials have appealed to the unemployed youths to avail themselves of the opportunity by registering their names for the fair online. So far, 130 youths have registered their names. “We are contacting companies and asking them to participate in the fair. The district administration will provide stalls for all companies. We are hopeful that many youths of the district will secure jobs during the job fair,” Mr. Anbukkumar said.

In the run-up to Hoysalotsava, a walkathon would be held here on January 7. A ragi mudde (millet balls) eating competition would be part of the event. A maximum of 100 people would be allowed to take part in the event.

Meanwhile, residents of Halebid, which was the capital city during the Hoysala rule, have taken exception to the district administration not holding any programmes of Hoysalotsava in their place. Jayasheela, member of the zIlla panchayat from Halebid, and others have appealed to the district administration to arrange to hold a one-day programme at Halebid too.
