Deputy Commissioner Abhiram G. Sankar, who is also the district electoral officer, has clarified that the model code of conduct will be applicable only to the Hunsur Assembly constituency limits.
Worry about Dasara
The announcement of the bypolls on October 21, by the Election Commission of India on Saturday, had raised concerns in certain quarters that the model code of conduct would be applicable across the district and this would put a question mark on the preparations and conduct of Dasara which will be held from September 29 to October 8.

But the Deputy Commissioner drew attention to a communique issued by the Election Commission in January 2018 which has thrown light on the issue as per which the MCC would be enforced in the particular assembly segment only and not in the whole of the district in case of a byelection.
