Political stability has brought about economic growth: Yeddyurappa

Political stability the nation is enjoying under the able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi will accelerate economic growth also, said B.S. Yeddyurappa, Shivamogga MP.

He was speaking after inaugurating a photo exhibition, organised by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting here on Friday to mark the first anniversary of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government at the Centre.

Along with working out a series of welfare programmes, the NDA government had succeeded in involving the bureaucracy, the political leadership and the common citizens in their implementation. The social security insurance and pension schemes launched by the Union government would bring about positive changes in the lives of common people. Under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, rolled out to provide access to banking services for people from all the strata of the society, more than 17 crore zero-balance accounts had been opened. The Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana that provides accident coverage and Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyothi Bima Yojana, a life insurance scheme launched by the Centre, had evoked excellent response. It was necessary to create awareness among people on the importance of these schemes.

The “Make in India” programme aimed at developing India into a manufacturing hub would result in income and employment generation. The Swachh Bharat Mission, the cleanliness drive, could succeed because of the voluntary involvement of public in them, he said.Chairman of Legislative Council D.H. Shankaramurthy, member of Rajya Sabha Ayanur Manjunath, Shikaripur MLA B.Y. Raghavendra and R.K. Siddaramanna, MLC were present.
