For the macho men, it was a day to show their physical strength and endurance skill by lifting weights heavier than their own weight not only by their bodies, but even with their moustaches.

This traditional weightlifting event, in which several weight lifters exhibit their muscle power, was held as part of the ongoing Siddeshwar Jatra here. The events included the lifting of 100 kg round stone, lifting of 130 kg-jowar bag, lifting of 300 kg-sand bag and lifting 100 kg-sand bag by tying weights around the legs.

When these men entered the arena, they were cheered by the audience, but when the men lifted heavy weights, the spectators remained stunned for a while before applauding.

A few men presented their lifting skills in different manner. They got the 100 kg-sand bag tied on their back and then rolled over on the floor around the Siddeshwara Temple three times.

But one man who stole the show was Rajashekhar Dyaberi, a twenty-seven year old resident of Tadalgi village of Indi taluk.

This man made even the spectators sweat by lifting a 100 kg-jowar bag on his shoulder and tying 10 kg stones around his feet and to climbing 75 steps of the historic Upli Burj. He did not stop there as he continued to carry the weight, walked back to Siddeswar Temple and went round it three times before ending his act.
