Bangalore University Post Graduate Centre students staged a protest on Monday.

Students of Bangalore University’s Postgraduate (PG) Centre boycotted classes on Monday demanding fulfilment of various demands, including completion of work on buildings on the new campus at Mangasandra.

Led by Students Federation of India’s district committee members, students of all departments boycotted classes. They blocked the Kolar–Malur Road and raised slogans to draw the attention of the authorities towards their problems.

Students were inconvenienced by non-completion of work on buildings and lack of toilets, SFI district committee president V. Ambarish said.

Separate hostels for BCM and SC and ST students was another major demand, he said, and added that these students were now being accommodated in other hostels.

Memorandum

In a memorandum submitted to the Vice-Chancellor of the university through PG Centre Director C. Nagabhushan, the students also demanded provision for a computer laboratory. Books for different departments had not been purchased for the last two years, the students alleged. Vacancies in teaching posts should be filled, they demanded.
