Several dignitaries and organisations have condoled the death of irrigation expert G.S. Paramashivaiah. He passed away after suffering a heart attack in Tumkur on Tuesday.
Recalling the services of Dr. Paramashivaiah, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that he inspired several irrigation projects and his ambition was to provide a permanent solution to the problem of water scarcity in arid areas such as Kolar and Chickballapur.
Water Resources Minister M.B. Patil said Dr. Paramashivaiah, who held various posts in the department, had vast experience in the field.

Janata Dal (Secular) national president H.D. Deve Gowda said Dr. Paramashivaiah was a legend in the field of irrigation. He had a deep and thorough understanding of irrigation opportunities in the State. His understanding of the issue and his solutions were insightful and his contribution as a government servant was noteworthy, Mr. Gowda added.
The former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy also expressed his condolences.

The Tumkur district units of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and Democratic Youth Federation of India said it was a great loss to the State. Seer of Siddaganga Math Shivakumara Swami; G.S. Basavaraju, MP; Congress leaders V.R. Sudarshan and S.P. Muddahanume Gowda; district president of the BJP B. Suresh Gowda, State secretary of the BJP M.B. Nandish, and Y.A. Tributes paidRepresentatives of organisations such as the Karnataka Prantha Raitha Sangha, Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha, Hasiru Sene and Kolar Jilla Shashwata Neeravari Horata Samiti paid tribute to Dr. Paramashivaiah in Kolar.
They recalled his contributions and said he worked tirelessly to solve the problem of water scarcity in the Bayaluseeme region, including Kolar and Chickballapur districts, despite his failing health. Functionaries of Shashwata Neeravari Horata Samiti held a condolence meeting at Gandhi Park.
