Kith and kin of senior politicians have filed nomination papers for the zilla panchayat elections here.

Swaroop, son of H.S. Prakash, Hassan MLA, filed his nomination papers here on Friday for Kandali Zilla Panchayat constituency. He went to the Assistant Commissioner’s office in a rally of motorcycles and submitted the nominations papers to Assistant Commissioner E. Vijaya. Mr. Prakash and senior leader of the Janata Dal (Secular) K.M. Raje Gowda were among those present.

C.N. Puttaswamy Gowda, brother of C.N. Balakrishna, Shravanabelagola MLA, entered the fray by filing his nomination papers for D. Kalenahalli constituency at Channaraypatna on Thursday. Meanwhile, C.S. Yuvaraj, nephew C.S. Putte Gowda, former MLA, will be the rival for Puttaswamy Gowda. As only two days are left for filing nomination papers, many candidates have chosen Friday to submit their papers. In Halekote, however, it was not yet clear whether Bhavani Revanna, wife of senior Janata Dal (S) leader H.D. Revanna, would contest or not. Her supporters have been putting pressure on the party leadership to field her from Halekote.
