‘Organ donation can help give a new lease of life to the needy’

People who signed up for donating organs after theirdemise being felicitated in Yadgir.

Donation of organs after the death of a person can give new a lease of life to the needy, the former MLA Veerbasant Reddy has said.

He appealed to people to donate their organs after their death to medical colleges or to needy individuals suffering from serious diseases.

He was addressing a programme after felicitating several persons who signed up for donating their organs after their death here on Saturday.

Dr. Reddy, who is a doctor by profession, said that organ donation after brain death to medical colleges would be immensely useful to medicos to do research and improve knowledge in medical sciences and to patients suffering from serious ailments. Vital organs such as liver, kidneys, heart, intestines, lungs, bones and bone marrow are removed from the body for the use of needy patients.

Murugharajendra Swamiji of Khasamutt, Gurumitkal, appealed to the people to save lives and uphold humanity.

Basavarajappa Wadagera, Venkappa Alemane, Hemavathi Venkappa Alemane, Veeranna, Parvathamma Veeranna, S.S. Naik, Suganna, Ramareddy, Saraswati Ramareddy and Parvathi Chandramappa Pujari, who gave consent to donate their organs after their demise, were felicitated.
