Oppressive weather conditions continued in the Hyderabad-Karnataka region despite isolated heavy rainfall reported in some parts as per the observations of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) at 8.30 a.m. on Thursday.
While Kalaburagi continued to reel under a severe spell of the heat wave, recording the State’s highest maximum temperature of 40.1 degree Celsius, other parts of the region including Bidar, Ballari and Vijayapura in the Bombay Karnataka region recorded an identical 40 degree Celsius maximum temperature. Raichur and Koppal recorded 39 degree Celsius maximum temperature each.
However, some parts of the region experienced good rainfall. Sedam and Sulepet in Kalaburagi district along with Balehonnur in Chikkamagaluru, Dudda in Hassan district and Chikkanahalli in Tumakuru recorded 3 cm of rainfall. Aurad in Bidar district and Ron in Gadag district experienced 2 cm of rainfall and Humnabad in Bidar district recorded 1 cm rainfall, bringing some respite to the people.

Chikkamagaluru, Gudlupet, Chikkanahalli PTO, and Pavagada also recorded 2 cm of rainfall and Hungund in Bagalkot district and Devarhippargi in Vijayapura district, Panchanahalli in Chikkamagaluru district, Belur in Hassan district as well as Bandipur in Chamarajanagar district recorded 1 cm of rainfall.
Night temperatures continued to be high in the Hyderabad-Karnataka region with Raichur recording the State’s highest minimum temperature of 27 degree Celsius followed by 26 degree Celsius minimum temperature recorded each in Kalaburagi and Ballari. Sources in the IMD predicted some more rain in isolated places in the Hyderabad Karnataka and Bombay Karnataka regions on Friday and Saturday. Moderate to heavy rains are expected in the isolated places in the region on Sunday and the following days.
