This Dasara, tourists can make use of a ‘passport’ to go around key tourist destinations here, without buying separate tickets for visiting each tourist spot.
The tourism passport (single-ticket system), a tourist-friendly initiative, provides tourists entry to places of importance during Mysore Dasara-2014, without any hassles. The initiative has been proposed for the launch this time, keeping in view the convenience of tourists.
This facility will be available for one month — from September 15 to October 15. The city will come alive when Dasara celebrations unfold from September 25.

The concept of tourism passport was first introduced in Dasara 2005, but the idea did not catch on in later years.
The Mysore district administration was keen on launching the ‘one ticket, many tourist destinations’ last year, but could not do so due to paucity of time.
B.P. Ravi, Mysore zoo executive director, who is also the Chief Conservator of Forests, said in a press release here that the tourism passport has been proposed for launch in three colours — orange, green and blue. The authorities, however, are yet to decide on the cost of the passport.

The orange passport will provide entry to Mysore Palace and zoo. The green will ensure entry to Mysore zoo, Mysore Palace, Karanji Lake Nature Park and Chamundi Hills. The blue will be for six places – Mysore Palace, Mysore zoo, Karanji Lake Nature Park, Brindavan Gardens, Chamundi Hills and Ranganatittu Bird Sanctuary.
The arrangements for the sale of passport would be made at important tourist destinations, prominent hotels, the Department of Tourism and other places, Mr. Ravi said.
Book onlineThe tourism passport can also be bought online. The orange one can be booked one day in advance, while the green and blue passports can be booked two and three days in advance respectively. Arrangements for booking the passport online would be made soon, he added.
Mr. Ravi said drinking water and toilets would get priority at tourist destinations.
