Non-clinical workers demand minimum wages

Non-clinical workers attached to several government hospitals in Mandya district staged a protest demonstration outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office here on Friday demanding minimum wages, regularisation of services and better service facilities.

The six government hospitals and the Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences here have several non-clinical employees who were not being paid minimum wages and were deprived of the benefits like Employees State Insurance, Provident Fund etc., they said.

The protesters urged Deputy Commissioner M.N. Ajay Nagabhushan to direct the contractors concerned to pay the salary of non-clinical workers before the 10th of every month, along with PF other facilities.

The protesters also urged the State government to abolish the contract system of recruitment. They urged the government to ensure better service facilities to non-clinical workers as per labour laws.

They also want their services regularised
