Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar on Monday said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) high command would meet on December 12 to decide the fate of the MLAs, MLCs and MPs who attended the Karnataka Janata Paksha’s (KJP) convention held in Haveri on Sunday, defying the party’s directive.
Speaking to presspersons here on Monday, he said: “The BJP is not delaying action against those who attended the KJP convention.”
He said the national leadership had been briefed about the anti-party activities of MLAs, MLCs and MPs loyal to KJP president B.S. Yeddyurappa. Disciplinary action will be initiated against them at the earliest.

Defying the party’s directive, 14 MLAs attended the KJP convention. The breakfast meeting convened by Mr. Yeddyurappa on Friday was attended by 30 MLAs and a few MLCs .
Categorically ruling out the possibility of dissolving the Assembly in view of some party MLAs identifying openly with Mr. Yeddyurappa, the Chief Minister said: “The party has no plans of dissolving the Assembly. What is the need to dissolve the Assembly when we have the majority?” He asserted that the session would be held till December 13 as scheduled.

Higher Education Minister C.T. Ravi claimed the BJP’s prospects in the Assembly elections would not be affected by the KJP. Accusing the KJP of having a “tacit understanding” with the Congress, he said Mr. Yeddyurappa was attacking the BJP, while being silent about the Congress.
