Nithyananda Swami of Nithyananda Dhyanapeetam on Tuesday moved the Karnataka High Court challenging the First Information Report (FIR) registered by the Bidadi police against him in connection with incidents that occurred in his ashram last week.
He has sought for quashing of two FIRs.
He claimed in the petition that his name has been included in the FIR though two complaints filed in connection with the incident do not disclose any allegations against him.

Nithyananda said that the behaviour of a certain representative of the electronic media was “nauseating and intolerable”. He also alleged that a representative of an electronic media, who went out of a press conference after certain arguments with him, later brought along with him some ruffians who attacked the devotees and residents of his ashram.
The FIRs were registered based on two complaints by Bhima Shankar Patil of Karnataka Nava Nirmana Sene and a reporter of a private television channel.
The petitions will come up for hearing on Wednesday.
