Head of the Department of Study in Biotechnology, Mysore University, S.R. Niranjan, assumed charge as Vice-Chancellor of Gulbarga University here on Wednesday. Prof. Niranjan took charge from the outgoing Vice-Chancellor G.R. Naik.
Prof. Naik was holding the office of Vice-Chancellor after the term of E.T. Puttaiah ended in July 2014.
Prof. Niranjan has served as professor at Mysore University for 13 years and has published around 150 research articles. He has secured four patents including in plant biotechnology, agricultural biotechnology, host pathogen interaction and biological control.
