New team of Cantonment Board of Belagavi formed after elections

Belagavi, Jan.12: Supporters of contestants were seen waiting anxiously for the outcome of the results of the elections to seven seats of Cantonment Board of Belgaum on Monday. - D.B. PATIL.

A new team of Cantonment Board of Belagavi came into existence following general election to the seven wards of the board. The polling seven seats was held on Sunday and counting of ballots was taken up on Monday.

The new members elected for a term of five years are Vikram Babulal Purohit, Ashtekar Niranjan Pradeep, Sajeed Nazirsab Shaikh, Rizwan Bepari, Dharwadkar Arbiya Mohammed Gous, Killedar Aleddin Nooruddin and Dr. Dongare Madan Amarnath.

The results of the polling were declared by Returning Officer Sharda C. Kolkar. Of the total 12,424 votes spread across seven wards of the CBB, 8492 voters (68.35 per cent) had exercised their electoral franchise.

The date of election of chairman of the board is likely to be announced soon, official sources at CBB said.
