Neelamani N. Raju is Karnataka’s first woman police chief

Neelmani N. Raju is Karnataka’s first woman Director General and Inspector General of Police. She will take over from Rupak Kumar Dutta, who is retiring from service.

The state government issued the orders on Tuesday afternoon, putting to end speculation on who the next DG&IGP would be. Three IPS officials were in the race for the post, including Ms. Raju, DGP of the Criminal Investigation Department H.C. Kishore Chandra and DGP of Anti Corruption Bureau M.N. Reddi.

According to a communiqué, Mr. Kishore Chandra has been appointed as the chairman and managing director of the Karnataka State Police Housing Corporation in the existing vacancy. M.N. Reddi has been posted as Commandant General, Home Guards, E/o Director, Civil Defence and Director of Fire Force.

Praveen Sood has been promoted to the grade of DGP and appointed as DGP, Internal Security, Bengaluru. Alok Mohan is transferred and posted as ADGP, Communication, Logistics and Modernisation, Bengaluru, while Saniay Sahay is appointed as ADGP, Karnataka Lokayukta. Kamal Pant has been posted as ADGP of Police, Law & Order, while S. Parashivu Murthy has been appointed as ADGP, Administration, Bengaluru, the communiqué added.
