Actor Naseeruddin Shah to inaugurate Bahuroopi 2015

Naseeruddin Shah, veteran film actor and renowned theatre artist will inaugurate Bahuroopi 2015 – National Theatre Festival to be held here from January 13 to January 18 on the Kalamandira campus.

The theme for the festival this year is ‘Jagada Janapada Bahumukhi Shakespeare’ as the 450th birthday celebrations of the Bard of Avon are underway across the globe.

As many as 11 plays would be enacted by different troupes from Assam, Rajasthan and Maharashtra, apart from troupes from Karnataka performing.

H. Janardhan, Director, Rangayana, said that the Motley troupe from Mumbai would enact

Beastly Tales (English), collection of poems and short stories by Vikram Seth and James on the inaugural day. Residents of Central Prison, Mysuru, will enact a drama on the third day titled
Maranayaka which is based on Shakespeare’s
Macbeth .

V. Srinivas Prasad, Revenue Minister and District in-charge minister and Minister of State for Kannada and Culture Umashree, and theatre artiste Prakash Raj will take part in the inaugural function.
