Nandini milk price may go up

Consumers may soon have to pay more for Nandini milk.

The State government is planning to increase the price of various varieties of Nandini milk to fund infrastructure development work in dairies of the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) and milk unions in various districts.

Now, a litre of ordinary Nandini milk costs Rs. 27 per litre in Bangalore, and a final decision on revising prices would be taken after consulting all stakeholders, Minister for Animal Husbandry and Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister T.B. Jayachandra said in the Legislative Assembly.

The government has also mooted a proposal to increase the number of outlets selling Nandini products across the country.

Replying to C.T. Ravi (BJP) during Question Hour, the Minister said that milk prices were far lower in Karnataka compared to other States.
