Chintaki, on Wednesday, bid a tearful adieu to its proud son Gurupadappa Nagamarapalli, MLA and cooperative leader, who died in Bengaluru on Tuesday. A huge crowd gathered at the burial site, at the edge of the Nagamarapalli family farm.
It was an emotional moment for most of them who had interacted with him. Some others, including Lakhanbai Chauhan from Baban Nayak Tanda, said that they had never seen him, though they had benefited from the self-help groups promoted by the District Central Cooperative Bank that he led.
The former Minister was given a three-gun salute and full State honours. Chandrappa Khanapure, who served as gunman to Nagamarapalli for over 16 years, led the police guard of honour team.

Later, the leader was buried as per Lingayat tradition in the presence of religious leaders, including Sri Basavalinga Pattaddevaru of Bhalki Hire Math, Sri Shivananda Swamy of Hulsoor and Rajshekar Swami Gorta.
Bidar district in-charge Minister Umashree, the former Chief Ministers Jagadish Shettar and N. Dharam Singh, the former Minister V. Somanna, Sidram Metre, former MLA from Maharashtra, MP Bhagwant Khuba, MLAs Eshwar Khandre, Prabhu Chauhan and Rajshekar Patil and MLC Vijay Sankeshwar attended.
Additional Director-General of Police R.P. Sharma, Inspector-General of Police Sunil Agarwal, Superintendent of Police Sudhir Kumar Reddy, Deputy Commissioner Anurag Tewari, Assistant Commissioners Annies K. Joy and Shankar Vanikyal were present.
